Yet, in conjunction with Leger's Disdain and its special interaction with Simulacrum s (see Mechanics), the Grim Scythe Necromancer still scales its damage a lot with density and stays an absolute beast when surrounded by hordes of monsters! The Follower rework in Season 23 allowed this build to pick up Krelm's Buff Bracers without having to lose the benefits of using Nemesis Bracers. The build however took quite a hit in Season 22 as a bug allowing Simulacrum s to benefit twice from Trag'Oul's Corroded Fang got fixed. This change paved the way for the LoD Grim Scythe Necromancer to shred everything in sight with the amazing power of Grim Scythe Cursed Scythe, which you'll regularly hear referred to as "Poison Scythe" as this build is all about stacking Poison Skills and Nayr's Black Death. Either way, minions in their current form could definitely use a little extra help, or at least some more inventive abilities and passives for creating them. When Season 21 introduced the new Masquerade of the Burning Carnival Set based on both Simulacrum s and Bone Spear, Haunted Visions witnessed a rework that allowed Simulacrum to last indefinitely as well as enabling Grim Scythe as a duplicated skill. My current build uses Howl From Below, the amazing gloves that create kamikaze skeletons, and sending them sprinting off to explode against enemies feels more like what a minion-summoning Necromancer should be, rather than worrying about minion health and unit cap. But minions should feel disposable-why can't I have a giant horde of weak skeletons? Or some kind of spawn ability where I whack down a bone pile and it just keeps making new ones? You're often pushing against enemies above your level in higher difficulties, and maybe that's what has such a detrimental effect on your minions' effectiveness. If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say that the issue is partly to do with scaling. Howl From Below is good at making minions feel more disposable (Image credit: Blizzard)ĭon't get me wrong I love my minions, I'm just sad to discover that you have to give up so much to make them feel viable in the endgame.
